Chris Christie’s online presence consists of being on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and his own personal campaign page.  On his Facebook page, Christie does a good job of making daily posts. The page is activate and posts a lot of videos of Christie speaking as well as talks about some of his accomplishments. The only thing that I would recommend is letting people know whether or not Christie is the one behind the posts or if someone is writing them for him. Their written in first person, but some people may want to know.

On Chris Christie’s instagram page he has the motto of his campaign, Telling It Like It Is, as a hash tag in the bio along with a link to the campaign website. A large majority of the pictures are of Christie out on the campaign trail. There is a video of him talking with voters as well as a photo of Christie talking to two little boys who are dressed up as Batman and Robin and this goes along with his theme of being a President who would be a law enforcer. There is a picture of Christie with his wife to show he is a family man and recently he has posted two videos talking to senior voters possibly trying to convey that he is for helping senior citizens.

On Chris Christie’s twitter page, he uses it to share links and tweets about issues he is for or against. For example, he is against the legalization of marijuana and he has been posting links to his YouTube page that address this issue. He also tweets to inform his followers about TV appearances he will be making. He also will share links so that people will be able to see an interview he was apart of if people may have missed it live. He also has one tweet attacking Hillary Clinton as well. I also found it interesting that he still uses his other twitter page, which is called Governor Chris Christie. He uses Twitter as a way for people to be directed towards his YouTube by posting links to videos. On his YouTube page it consists of videos of him speaking on the campaign trail as well as from the last Republican debate, and commercials for the campaign.

Moving forward I think Chris Christie needs to make it know through interviews and commercials to let people know he has more than just a website. After looking at his social media accounts, none of them had a huge amount of followers. Especially during commercial ads, the campaign staff should have something that says “follow us on Social Media” and then have the logos for the one’s he is on along with the link to his own personal website. It is good that on all the forms, except for YouTube, there is a link to the personal website in the bio. Christie needs to continue to stick with the theme of himself being a President who would be a law enforcer because this makes him unique. I would also encourage him to make know the things he has done well with as the governor of New Jersey.

After watching the Republican Presidential debate on Wednesday night, Chris Christie definitely helped himself in the image of the people. He continued to stress the importance of having a president who is a law enforcer just like how he would be if he were the next president of the United States. Before the debate Christie did not have a lot of support and was very low in the poles, but according to some who analyzed the debate he did enough to help himself stay in the race and earn more money for his campaign. According to an article on Bloomberg Politics, Christie’s closing statement made an impression on the American people because according to the article, it created a lot of buzz. According to the article, on Google's interactive replay of searches of the candidates throughout the debate showed Christie, the governor of New Jersey, hovering in the lower tier of the 11-person field throughout the debate, and, toward the end, at the second-to-last spot. Then, when he gave his final answer, he surged to first place.  From his closing statement he wanted to let the American people know that his presidency would solely about the American people and he would reward those who have been doing the right thing constantly. Christie needs to continue to stay with his image of being a law enforcing president to help his image because for the Americans who do everything they are suppose to but continue to go nowhere and those who cheat the system continue to rise, the honest Americans will be more enticed to vote for Christie so they can be rewarded.

A strength for the Christie campaign is his experience on the legal side. The main idea of the campaign is Christie will be a politician who enforces law and does everything for the people. A weakness that may arise for the campaign is when Christie closed down Washington Bridge in 2013. Some people might bring up the argument, “How could Christie enforce laws when he was involved in a scandal of his own?” A potential opportunity for Christie could involve his weight. Christie was the first ever governor in New Jersey to qualify as obese. Christie could use the presidency to possibly become physically fit himself and to inspire others to do the same. On the other hand, a potential threat would be Christie’s health causing him to not be able to handle the stress that comes with the job.

One of the biggest issues Christie has been vocal about is making marijuana illegal in the entire country and not leaving it up to individual states to decided. Christie is also against homosexual marriages, but believes gays can be allowed to form civil unions and he is pro-life as well. The two that he will highlight the most are his stances on marijuana for recreational use and his stance on abortion. The whole issue of whether or not to fund planned parenting has been a huge issue and Christie should continue to be vocal about his stance on abortion and being against funding planned parenthood especially after the videos being made public. This will also help with his image of being a law enforcer because what Planned Parenthood officials were doing is illegal.

The candidate I chose was Chris Christie the governor of New Jersey and one of the many republican presidential candidates. Governor Christie was elected the governor of New Jersey in 2010 and he was elected to a second term in 2013. Chris Christie is originally from Newark, New York and received his degree from the University of Delaware and his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University school of law.

After college Christie became a lawyer and joined the law firm Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci of Cranford, New Jersey and this is was the start for Christie’s political career. Christie’s first encounter with politics occurred when he volunteered for George H.W. Bush’s re-election campaign in New Jersey. After being apart of the campaign in 1993, Christie decided to run against New Jersey Senate Majority Leader, John H. Dorsey but that run ended shortly when Dorsey challenged the validity of Christie’s petition to appear on the ballot. In 1994, Christie finally got is political career going when he was elected as a Republican to the Board of Chosen Freeholders for Morris County, New Jersey. One year later in 1995, Christie ran for a seat in the New Jersey General Assembly along with attorney Rick Merkt but the duo lost to Anthony Bucco and Michael Patrick. After the loss, unhappy Republicans recruited republican John Murphy to run against Christie and ultimately Murphy defeated Christie and he was not re-elected to the freeholder board.

After the defeat, Christie returned all of his attention back to his law firm. Christie’s firm later opened up an office in the state capital of New Jersey and it was mainly devoted to lobbying. During 1999 to 2001, Christie’s firm represented GPU Energy, the Securities Industry Association, Hackensack University Medical Center, and University of Phoenix. During the 2000 presidential election, Christie served as the campaign lawyer for George W. Bush. After President Bush won the election, he appointed Christie the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey on December 7th, 2001. Christie served this position up until December 1st, 2008.  On January 8th, 2009 Christie declared to run for the office of Governor and ultimately won the election on November 3rd, 2009.

The campaign slogan for Chris Christie’s presidential campaign is “Telling it like it is”. To understand the main idea of his campaign, which is having a president in office that is a strong law enforcer. He believes the lack of enforcement by President Obama has caused crime to increase, drugs to become more available, and Isis to become stronger. Understanding his past as a lawyer and as a U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, it makes sense for his campaign to be centered on enforcing the laws in America to keep Americans safe. The campaign also takes a swing at Hillary Clinton and her email scandal going on trying to not portray her as an honest person nor a law-abiding citizen. Chris Christie has been a law enforcer his entire life and he would continue to do so as president.
